Dr. Reanne Frank, Sociology and Dr. Bo Lu, Biostatistics Find Changing Racial/Ethnic Indentities among U.S. Latinos
In a new study using the New Immigrant Survey, Dr. Reanne Frank and Dr. Bo Lu found that skin color influences the income of U.S. Latinos. They also find changing self-identification of Latinos, with 79 percent of Latino respondents in the New Immigrant Survey identifying as white. Dr. Frank suggests that racial boundaries are being challenged and redrawn in the United States by immigrants and their native-born children. Their results appear in the June issue of the American Sociological Review. For more information, see OSU Research News.
