Mock Study Section
The Center for Clinical and Translational Science in conjunction with the Institute for Population Research, the John Glenn School and the OSU Research Office/Foundation Development Office present a Mock Study Section Review Panel
Event Description
The Mock Study Section simulates a NIH Study Section with multiple reviewers in attendance from different disciplines.
Reviewers will review a previously unfunded R01 application and then participate in a formal discussion and review of the grant. They will then review the funded resubmission of this grant.
They will address the original NIH reviewer comments during their review. This event is led by experienced reviewers.
Learning objectives
• To apply the guidelines for peer review as developed by the NIH
• To see how reviewers respond and interact during a review session-what motivates them to give a high or low score.
• To discuss the common weaknesses of scientific grant proposals
