On the links between forest conservation and human health: Evidence from the developing world
Since the 1990s, ecosystem services-the benefits people get from the natural environment, have been getting steady recognition in the literature. However, the evidence of the causal link between ecosystem services and forests as well as the monetary value of the benefits forest provide in the developing world have been scarce. Drawing on detailed spatially explicit data from India, this seminar with overview the links between forests and human health, some methods for quantifying and valuing the benefits of forests, and will present evidence of the monetary value of forests in terms of mitigating the malaria burden in India.
