Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. Theme of Talk: Immigration and Migration

Title of Talk: Climate Change & Population Dynamics: Long-term & Short-term Impacts on Population Change Due to Hurricane Exposure

Abstract: This project examines the impact of hurricanes on population change and adds to our knowledge by taking a prospective and long-term view, rather than retrospective and case-based assessments. We draw upon harmonized county-level data (1970-2018) for hurricane impacts, population change, and economic growth for the U.S. and apply difference in difference approaches to assess the impacts. We conduct several robustness checks and find strong support for our hypotheses.

Please note that February 2022 seminars will only be offered in a virtual format.
