Title: INSIGHTs to Impacts: Advancing Local LGBTQ+ Population Health Through Engaged Research
Abstract: Local population health assessments frequently overlook or misrepresent sexual and gender minority groups. To address these systemic gaps, Dr. Patterson will discuss an ongoing research initiative, Greater Columbus INSIGHT. Designed by and for the local LGBTQ+ community, INSIGHT leverages community-engaged and participatory methods to capture nuanced regional health realities. Dr. Patterson's presentation outlines the study's mixed-methods and approach, detailing how local stakeholders directly guided study design, implementation, and data interpretation. She will present critical findings concerning social determinants of health, health outcomes, and intersectional disparities within Central Ohio’s LGBTQ+ population. Finally, she will discuss how translating these "insights" into actionable community "impacts" provides a scalable blueprint for equitable, data-driven, population health interventions.
