Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

IPR Seminar: Josh Hawley, PPM: Three essays exploring higher education outcomes using state administrative records

February 19, 2013
5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

The OERC is a new research center at OSU. We maintain a unique resource for researchers in the social and behavioral sciences, including data on education and employment outcomes for all higher education students from 2000 to the present. Degree completion is a major policy issue in education research, both for the K-12 and higher education sectors. This presentation will highlight three research questions that we have answered based on the data. First, how does participation in developmental education (non credit remedial courses in math and English) change the likelihood of completing a university degree?  Second, how does student financial support, specifically need-based financial aid, alter student progress in completing a higher education degree? Finally, how does student dropout from a registered apprenticeship depend on the organizational structure of the apprenticeship arrangement?
