  • Research Interests: Dr. Cohen's work focuses on migration between rural Oaxaca, Mexico and the US and specifically the social and economic impact of migration on sending households.  His current projects include a study of traditional food use among migrants and an analysis of the impact that political unrest over the summer of 2006 in Oaxaca City, Mexico has on migration rates in surrounding peasant communities.
