  • Research Interests: Concerning immigration, this has focused on its manifestation in terms of the foreign-born/ethnic profiles of MSAs which differ noticeably in a number of dimensions, one of which is geography; also on the role of refugee resettlement agencies in the context of the general model of migration and reshaping patterns of immigrant settlement.

  • Current Research: economic restructuring and population shifts in locales comprising the Ohio River Valley, racial/ethnic sorting in US urban areas and market-led pluralism, immigrant profiles of mid-sized MSAs, and segregation indices in geographic perspective
