IPR Seminar: Lawrence Finer, Director of Domestic Research, Guttmacher InstituteUnintended pregnancy in the United States: new estimates and a proximate-determinants approach to understanding changeAbstractThe U.S. unintended pregnancy rate has stagnated for many years, but recent changes in U.S. contraceptive use suggest it is a good time to produce new estimates, and new data on pregnancy intendedness are available through 2011. I will report on trends for the population as a whole and by demographic subgroup, and then talk about factors that might have precipitated any observed changes.

Abstract
The U.S. unintended pregnancy rate has stagnated for many years, but recent changes in U.S. contraceptive use suggest it is a good time to produce new estimates, and new data on pregnancy intendedness are available through 2011. I will report on trends for the population as a whole and by demographic subgroup, and then talk about factors that might have precipitated any observed changes.
