The integration of complementary methods provides an opportunity to more holistically understand and empirically assess complex social phenomenon. In this study, we employ a multi-stage, theoretically informed, mixed-methods approach – Systematic Anomalous Case Analysis (SACA) - to examine reproductive decision-making among urban young adults in a metropolitan area of the Philippines. We integrate qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques to identify possible explanations for persistent – and emerging – reproductive health challenges in this setting. In this presentation, I will provide an overview of the SACA method and describe its implementation in understanding sexual and contraceptive decision-making in the Philippines. Lastly, I will illustrate how mixed methods approaches such as SACA can be applied to inform subsequent research studies and health interventions.   038 Townshend Hall, 1885 Neil Ave Institute for Population Research popcenter@osu.edu America/New_York public
